In southeastern coastal Georgia lies Brunswick, one of the nation's most productive Atlantic ports. The county seat of Glynn County, Brunswick lies on a harbor on Oglethorpe Bay's eastern shore. This city of 16,000 is located 30 miles north of the Florida border. Its metro, the Brunswick metropolitan area, has about 102,000 residents. Brunswick was one of the five original ports of entry for the American colonies, as declared by President George Washington. The city was once "The Shrimp Capital of the World" because of the local wild shrimp which still provide a major source of income for the area.

Education
Brunswick is served by the Glynn County School System. The district has 9 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and 2 high schools. The high schools are called Brunswick High and Glynn Academy, the latter being Georgia's 2nd-oldest public high school. Additionally, 4 private schools are available locally. Coastal Georgia Community College offers local postsecondary education. Education can also be found at Savannah Technical College and the local campus of Troy State University.

Recreation
Residents take pride in the Old Town residential and commercial district which has the distinction of being the largest small-town, urban Georgia district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Downtown Brunswick is also a source of pride, featuring Victorian commercial buildings and many shops and diners as well as cultural opportunities. This downtown area is currently being updated while still preserving the city's historic structures. Locals can shop at one of four major shopping centers, each with different national retail chains. Residents can enjoy the performing arts at Ritz Theatre or get in tune with the local culture at one of several annual events. The former "shrimp capital of the world" is also on the coast, so locals like to enjoy various water activities.

There were a total of 114 closed sales from January 1^st to March 31st in 2009 compared to 201 from January 1^st of 2008 to March 31st of 2008. The average selling price for that period was $204,071 compared to an average selling price of $238,108 for the same period in 2008, a percentage decrease of 14.9%. Homes have been selling at 93.5% of list price compared to 95.7% one year earlier. The average number of days a house was on the market was 182, compared to 147 days for the same period in 2008, an increase of 22.4%. Currently there are 1571 homes on the market compared to last year with 1637, Inventory is on the decline which is a good indicator that the market is ready to turn upward so it is a great time to buy but don't wait to long before the deals are gone!
